DOUBLE CHIEFTAINCY CONFERMENT: HOW ESEWEZIE BECAME THE FIRST OSHIMILI NORTH TITLE HOLDER
Story By Dr. Emeka Esogbue
In what is now tagged “Double Chieftaincy in Oshimili, PEN MASTER can tell that Ibusa son and Chairman of Oshimili North LGA, Hon Chief Innocent Esewezie has achieved an entirely new feat.
On Friday, an entire traditional rulers in a local government came together to confer a chieftaincy title on an individual, the same day, the traditional ruler of the host community conferred another chieftaincy title on the same individual in what is known as a “double chieftaincy title.”
This is an extreme value in a traditional title achievement that remains.
Whether any current Council Boss matches the accomplishments of Hon Chief Innocent Esewezie or not is now a matter of debate
Esewezie started well and is ending well and is also enjoying accolades from all.
As his Personal Assistant on Media and ICT, Chiedu Bandoh listed, the man has achieved a stride of infrastructural strides since assuming office as Council Boss.
He made an executive complex at the council secretariat in Akwukwu-Igbo within his 100 days in office and built a new market in Illah with a total of 80 shops and 29 lock-up shops. A public water system was established in Ukala, and the Ugbolu Ultra-modern Market was built with 250 open shops and 150 lock-up shops and also with modern motor parks and abattoirs.
Esewezie went ahead to bring transformers in Okpanam and graded farm and school roads in Ebu, Ugbolu, Akwukwu-Igbo, and Ibusa.
In Ibusa, he raised the Oshimili North Liaison office, built the Umuehea Town Hall, and modernized the Oshimili North Nursery and Primary School and several other projects.
Indeed, as it is, the likes of Esewezie in terms of delivery on mandates on a Council basis can hardly be seen in Nigeria.
Maybe for the first time, in decades, an Ibusa coalescence has formed to agree that the community has discovered an official political messenger and representative. That official messenger and representative is Hon Chief Innocent Esewezie.
In 2018, PEN MASTER listed Hon Chief Esewezie in the list of 2017 Influencers of Ibusa, published on his Blog and he is justifying it.
Esewezie has demonstrated a sincere soundness in the representation of electorates.
Esewezie was honoured with Ugonwa of Ibusa and Ezinwajiani of Ibusa, by the traditional ruler of his community separately and collectively by other traditional rulers of Oshimili North LGA including his traditional ruler in a single phase of a ceremony, making him the first Ibusa politician to enjoy such traditional turban in his Enuani Nation.
At least, it is the first time any traditional title will be traditionally situated on Oshimili North. A rare honour indeed!
PEN MASTER sends his congratulatory message to Hon Chief Innocent Esewezie.
